I've racked my brains as to what to blog about first in 2014 ...

Well I got an answer .... no not 42 or "You should write a gushing retrospective of the latest Game Of Thrones or The Walking Dead episodes."

Alas a blog concerning some fascinating Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy insight or reviews of shows I've never seen is unlikely.

The answer was actually to comment about a direct to DVD enterprise that is reminiscent of Mystery Science Theater 3000 called Incognito Cinema Warriors XP [which will get abbreviated to ICWXP from here on in]

BTW The ICWXP website can be found on the world wide web HERE

A reader to this blog probably wants me to get on with the meat of this blog entry ... okay .. okay  the following text should clarify things ... should

ICWXP chronicles the [mis]adventures of a soldier named Rick Wolf who was in command of a CORPS (Command of Reanimate Processing and Suppression) unit that dealt exclusively with combating zombies. After a pitched battle with many reanimated corpses Rick found himself the last survivor and thus he hauls ass out of there and finds refuge in the dilapidated Cine-A-Sorrow Theater.

In the theater lobby Rick meets Johnny Cylon the usher bot and the mobile concession stand known as Topsy Bot 5000.

Soon after some of the walking dead break into the theater lobby our three stalwart heroes run for the safety of "Theater 6". Very quickly Rick, Johnny and Topsy learn from the owner of the theater [Dr. Blackwood] that they have to comment on movies, shorts and advertising so they can stay safe from the hordes of reanimated corpses roaming Kansas City, Missouri. If our heroic trio doesn't riff the captor du jour will let the zombies be let into the cinema ....

And so ... resigned to their fates our heroes give films like Lady Frankenstein, Werewolf in A Girl's Dormitory and shorts like Soapy The Germ Fighter  their own brand of running commentary. Before, during and after these forays into the theater Rick, Topsy and Johnny interact in host segments.

Later on in the series an arcade maintenance bot named Flux Namtari is added to the mix. Alas Flux soon finds out his job is non-existent as the scientist who allowed Rick to stay hadn't built any arcade games.

Here comes the boring personal story ...

I had heard of this troupe of riffers over a year ago but it wasn't until the first four episodes of season 2 were free to view for one month on youtube that I was able to finally see what I was missing.  I found this troupe of players very funny and was eventually able to acquire series one and two, part one episode collections.

My thoughts on the show: this series is written well and the acting is way above that on a lot of sit coms these days. The riffs made by the captives [characters] range from mocking of the activity on the screen to pop culture references. I am getting quite fond of the episodes.

I give ICWXP a rating of 4.XX

Oh crap .. links ... why did it have to be links ...

Now you are possibly asking yourself : How do I work this? And you may ask yourself: Where is that large automobile? And you may tell yourself: This is not my beautiful house! And you may tell yourself: This is not my beautiful wife! ... oh wait those are the lyrics to Once In A Lifetime. In reality your brain is likely to want to say to the the writer of this blog You idiot ... this is just you rambling on and on and on ... so how can I just take your word for this?

Fair question .... very fair .... there are no full episodes available online [since this blog was first typed up there has been a temporary change to this situation ... see below for an update] so after reading about ICWXP if one desires then one should view some youtube videos from them instead of those Rap Battles Of History ones you are currently watching over and over again or your Sex And The City dvds

The obligatory links mentioned above start after this line of text

The video below shows the reader of this blog what happened to Rick during the battle and his entrance into the theater ...
 ..

This is a short series promo ...
>

This is a series one promo featuring riffing on "Werewolf in a Girl's Dormitory"

This is a series 2 promo

If you have read this far you might want to know what a series 2 episode might be like then here is a short sample....

Now you might be thinking ... These promos are well and good BUT I don't really know quite what the group dynamics of the ICWXP characters are because the promos are short ...

Fear not ICWXP has that covered ... there is a full second season episode of the show to view at:

There is also a full length in character review of Resident Evil Retribution embedded just below this text. While it is not a riff per se one can see more of ICWXP's group dynamic.

If one finds the videos above of interest, ICWXP does have a youtube channel where one can view more videos which have been organized in a few PLAYLISTS

BONUS: A MUSIC VIDEO

It is hoped that folks will read this blog and at the very least read stuff at the main website and view the videos .. and then consider supporting ICWXP

By the by ... don't take my word about ICWXP ---
